Epilogue – Beginning and End

Disembarking from the plane,

we collect our possessions

and quickly exit the terminal.

India welcomes me by way

of a glistening black raven

magnificently perched on the

roof of a KFC drive-thru

He is as I remembered

loud, rude and belligerent.

Later, I saw thousands of

his cousins arguing over what

will be for dinner.

I must mention again the

beauty of the people.

Their liquid dark eyes

waiting to answer your smile

Waiting, also, to see and

hear your namaste returned

to them.

India, have you missed me

as I have missed you?

India, have you been waiting

my return?

Karen Duncan – February 2023

India, we love you! We will return soon

  1. What beautiful tributes! They brought a tear to my eyes. You are both Renaissance people, and artists in your own right! I’m honored that you share your talents with us! Lucky for us to have such wonderful friends. Much love, Pat

  2. I have so enjoyed reading your blog – thank you for taking time to share the adventure. Now, I am hoping for a gallery show of all the India purchases, including the clothing!
